Dark room guidelines

The dark room is the most essential work space for carrying out all alternative photographic processes. Hence, prevention of chemical contaminations, safety guidelines and precautions, cleanliness of the area and of all the equipment is of high priority. It is important to beging with a clean and organized work space.

Th enlarger : this is a transparency projector which is used to create photographic prints from film or glass negatives onto photographic paper using silver gelatin process or also from transparencies.

Food for thought : Having footnotes and records of guidelines and time duration of exposures of negatives and the difference in effects helps further analysis and adjustments.

Various reactive and pungent smelling chemicals are used in respective alternative processes of photo making. Long exposures to these can be potentially harmful hence, a lab coat, gloves and a mask are essential at all times.
